Prior to joining Abajian Law, Mr. Akopchikyan was a litigation attorney at one of the world’s largest law firms. His experience includes serving on a trial team that helped a client secure a $25 million verdict after a two-month trial. It goes without saying that his formidable litigation background bolsters our firm’s law and motion, trial, and appellate capabilities. We are pleased that his addition will further our mission of competently and discreetly solving complex and sensitive tax issues for our clients.
Mr. Akopchikyan’s education is a product of the Los Angeles area. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from UCLA. He earned his Juris Doctor (cum laude) and Master of Laws in Taxation (with Distinction) from Loyola Law School, where he was named to the Order of the Coif and Alpha Sigma Nu. At Loyola, he graduated second in his class and served as President of the St. Thomas More Law Honor Society.
During law school, Mr. Akopchikyan also gained significant work experience. He worked for the IRS’s Office of Chief Counsel, the State Board of Equalization (California), and in the chambers of two judges – the Honorable R. Gary Klausner of the United States District Court and the Honorable Rex Heeseman of the California Superior Court.
At Abajian Law, Mr. Akopchikyan will focus his practice on representing individuals and entities in civil and criminal tax litigation and controversy matters. We are excited to add him to our team and benefit from his broad array of skills and knowledge!
